"Suppose it might not show if you haven't spent as much time with him behind closed doors." With Leo none the less. "Fruity is a good way to describe it." Somehow she wasn't surprised when the subject of music showed up, and not only because he obviously had an interest. It just always seemed to show up sooner or later in any interaction she took part in. "Aren't everyone? But yea, I do play a few." To be honest, it was hard to be a musician by profession and not pick up how to play at least a few instruments - even though she might not be that good at all of them. "And from your case I'm assuming you're a guitarist, unless you have some sort of Desperado act going on." The woman nodded down towards teh case in his hand. "You any good?"

Alan chuckled a little at what he presumed to be some kind of insinuation about this Balthazar fellow. "I guess I am, the case gave me away didn't it?" He shook the case a little as he said it "But I do play other instruments as well, I've messed around with a lot of weird things that aren't instruments either" He didn't really get what she meant by the bit about a desperado act but he just ignored it "Well... I guess I'm fairly good by now, I've been playing for a bunch of years now so" He coughed and spat on the ground "I can manage my own songs anyway. What instrument do you play the most so to speak?"

"That's always an advantage." She commented on the fact that he could actually play his own songs. "Figured, once you pick up one, you usually pick up several more." Jean figured he didn't get her joke, but she had only herself to blame for pulling pop culture references. "I play the bass." She didn't bother pouinting out that it was the electrical kind, figuring it showed on her. "And lets skip all the 'retarded guitarist' jokes, I've heard them all before."

"Heh, it sure is!" He laughed "But I can think of a few occasions where I haven't been able to!" He laughed a little more and drank some more wiping his mouth on his sleeve "The bass? That's and underrated instrument actually, a bass can do a lot more than just back the guitarist up if the person handling bass knows what he's doing" He offered his little flask to her and went on "So what kind of band are playing?" He simply assumed she was in a band.

"That's pretty much a friggin' trend though, isn't it? Musicians without a bloody clue." She didn't seem to mind the fact that she sounded pretty arrogant, but just accepted the flask he was giving her and drank before handing it back. Vodka wasn't exactly her personal favorite, but it definitely went down.
"Surprised you're not just assuming I'm playing some sort of rock. In either case I'm one of those dickwads that wants the music to stand for itself anyway. Annoying huh?" Even though she might not have been one to hog the spotlight even when she was younger, now she had been starting to straight out dislike it when people knew who she was. Made it feel like people was keeping track of her. "You probably haven't heard of either of them anyway." Quite possibly true. "How about you? Band or are you going for the street musician, singer-songwriter deal?"

"Don't know really, living they way I do doesn't really keep you updated on stuff like that"
Alans brain was still a bit scrambled from his latest drinking bilge and considering how drunk he was the vodka he had drank since he came to started having an effect on him, in other words he started getting a bit drunk and a bit more dumb. "Yeah... but most music worth the while has roots in rock wouldn't you say?" He took out his spliff and lit it. Walking for little while smoking it he suddenly realized he didn't really know this Jean "Uh... you don't mind do you? Well it's too late now anyway isn't it?" He chuckled a little to himself "I'm in a band but I've been busking a lot in my life... not that I really like it that much but I need the money"

"Maybe I should swap life style? The way I'm living keeps me way too updated on stuff like that." Jean couldn't help but to smirk slightly at his claim as she answered. "Maybe I'll admit to most. If we say rock with it's most general definition." She also waved away his following question in a way that made it seem like she didn't even think it was worth asking. To be honest she didn't care what kind of drugs he took. "What, you don't like playing on the street in hopes of getting stranger's spare change?"

"It's actually a better way of life than it might seem" He smiled a little and smoked some more "That sounds fair I guess, shouldn't... uh... be too picky..." Alan trailed off as his thoughts drifted a bit. Drifting back to reality at the sound of Jeans voice as she asked her last question Alan blinked, his eyelids had gotten a bit heavy, and smiled at her "A bit of sarcasm huh? Not that I mind but what I do mind is the constant risk of getting a beating from the fuzz" He laughed a little "I've had my fair share of dealings with those pigs over the years and I still don't mind putting up a fight if I feel it's needed but I can't be bothered to have to watch my back and be ready run while trying to make some money by playing"

"What? Sarcasm? I would never." Then listening to what he had to say, she soon nodded in agreement, although she didn't exactly share the problem. Jean hadn't played on the street since she was a kid. "One would think they had better things to do, but I suppose beating musicians up is more fun than doing their job. I can relate to that." Not that she made a habit out of beating people up - first of she wasn't that big on upper body strength - but she definitely wanted to from time to time. She also hated doing an honest day's work even more than she hated accordions.

"Oh really?" He replied with a smile. "Well the biggest problem is the fact that they are actually targeting specific people, I guess it wouldn't be as bad if they actually beat everyone up... I mean if they did people wouldn't take it but since they only target outsiders no one really cares" He really had strong feelings about this subject but being all befuddled by drink and dope he was more relaxed and didn't get as agitated as he normally would.
As he started to feel better and better he also started feeling more talkative and social so he went on "Using violence isn't something I usually approve of but I don't think people should have to take that kind of abuse from the people who are supposed to protect them, right? Talking to them sure doesn't help and when they get out their billy sticks and start swinging you don't really feel like saying pretty please anymore" He belched loudly "I know I don't"

"I don't really use violence much unless someone else throws the first punch or you know, I'm really plastered..." Somewhat amused of how strongly he seemed to feel on the subject (it had been a long time since she felt that passionate about any topic), she snickered. "Maybe you just tick them off? Maybe you just have one of those faces."
Jean also couldn't say that she had ever felt much trust for the police force, so she wasn't really surprised. Didn't feel that let down either, they were after all just proving her statement of "everything sucks" right. But none the less she turned her head to look at him while walking. "I'm not sure though, looking at you now I'm not really getting the impulse to punch your teeth in, so maybe it is them after all."

"Violence is our lowest common denominator but it does have it's uses" He laughed "I might not be the most handsome and charming fellow around, I wouldn't say it's bad enough to deserve a beating but I get what you mean" He looked in her face, noting that she was fairly pretty "Why that might be the nicest thing someone's said to me for a long time" He winked at her and laughed "Well, maybe not but I think you're right. The majority of them are just bullies with a license to beat the shit out of people"

"No problem, although you might want to consider spending less time around cops if that is the case." Did he just wink at her? She excused it on account of him being high. "Although, if I knew what I know now ten years ago, I think I'd rather have a license to beat people up than play music, so maybe the bullies has it right."

"That's sound advice if there ever was any" He laughed, he was feeling pretty good. In fact he was feeling very good and was thinking about finding a place to get some other beverage than vodka, it wasn't really his favorite thing to drink. "I don't think they have, but they sure seem to be on the clean end of a dirty stick" Alan took another sip of his bottle and handed Jean the bottle "You can have the rest if you want, I think I should find something else to drink... got any suggestions?"

She nodded as a thank you as she accepted the bottle. "Why don't you just tag along to my place, it's guaranteed fuzz-free." Or at least she would be in deep shit herself if it wasn't. "I can also promise you that there will be something to drink there."
