Li Mei sat at the bar, pretending to sip on her drink and looked out over the crowd of people on the dancefloor. It was long since she had been in London and Li Mei was amazed that so much had changed since last time but somehow it was still the same. Few people seemed to be edible, Li Mei was perhaps not as hungry as she had expected. She felt like a child with the disgusting vegetables left on the plate, but she still had to feed otherwise she might act like a petulant child. Li Mei smiled to herself at the thought of it.
For this special occation, her first night in London for over a century, sha had selected a tight white dress paired with a long black velvet jacket and a matching pair of velvet flat shoes. Her hair was set up in a tight knot in the neck.

Thunder wasn't exactly Balthazar's favourite bar, but right now it was convenient. And he actually felt like loud awful, music, and it was so much easier to be left along in a bar like this. There were so much going on already, that no-one would really notice him. He entered, ordered a glass of whiskey, his new thing, and sat down at a table by the wall.

Li Mei immediately noticed the long, dark vampire when he made his entry at the club and watched him while he ordered his drink. She took her drink, walked up to him and introduced herself although she felt that he probably would have preferred to be alone, but she could not have cared less. It was after all a while since Li Mei had been in London and she took every opportunity to get to know some new acquaintances. "Li Mei."

Balthazar nad noticed the vampire by the bar, and looked at her as she went over to him. He had actually never seen an Asian vampire before. The pale skin with the black hair was a perfect match. As she had gotten over to her and introduced herself, Balthazar did the same, and nodded slightly. "Balthazar."

"I hope you don't mind that I sit down here with you." said Li Mei a light playful tone in his voice and sat down on the chair in front of Balthazar, not that she cared anyway if she was welcome or not. She had never really got rid of her Chinese accent, despite years of traveling around the world. Li Mei took a closer look at the vampire in front of her, he seemed long even when he sat down, in comparison with her tiny 5'3 and for a westerner Balthazar was pretty handsome. She wondered if he was here for the same reason that she was or if he was looking for human company. Li Mei knew that some vampires wanted to have human partners, but the thought of it disgusted her. It was like a cat would fall in love with a mouse. They were food and in some cases they could be regarded as friends. "So you are also on the prowl tonight? " She leaned forward and asked curiously with a smile that showed her fangs.

Although Li Mei clearly was Chinese, Balthazar hadn't expected the accent, and got a little startled by it, but shook it off. Of course she had an Chinese accent. She was quite short, and when she sat down without Balthazars confirmation, he almost had to look really down at her. "Yes. I am 'on the prowl'." He nodded and said 'on the prowl', like it did't really fit him.

"Do you come here often or is it your first time too?" Li Mei crossed her legs and leaned back in her chair. She remembered back to the last time she had been in London. Vampires in London had been acquainted with each other then, but Li Mei couldn't quite remember Balthazar. She couldnt help but wonder how old he was. "Have we met before?" Sometimes my memory a bit bad, something that comes with age I guess. There is so much to remember. " Li Mei let out a soft laugh.

"I've been here a few times." Balthazar confessed. It was quite close to his home, and he could be lazy sometimes. It was just convenient enough for him to stand the music. The interior and the people he did not really mind. "No, we have not met. I would have remembered that." He took a fake sip of his whiskey, and smiled at the laughing Li Mei.

"It was a long time since I was in London last, and everything is .. a little different. It's a bit confusing." Li Mei said smiling and also took a fake sip from her drink. By now she was really hungry and started looking for a potential dinner among the people on the dance floor, her whole body yearned for blood. But she didn't want to be rude and leave Balthazar here, now that she had started talking to him. He seemed polite and courteous, not at all like many young vampires and it was difficult for Li Mei to find someone she really liked to have a conversation with. "You seem very familiar in some way."

"What do you mean different?" Since he was born and had always lived in London, he had lived through the changes, and hadn't really noticed them. He could sense she was hungry, it was this vibe he got from her that he was quite familiar with himself, and thought he would "give her permission", to end the conversation and go feed, but she went on. "Well, if yo have ever heard of Angels at Night, that could be a reason."

She leaned forward again with a puzzled expression and asked: "Angels at Night?"

Balthazar made a slight wave of the hand. "Yeah, it was this band I had. But I guess we weren't that famous outside of UK." He just assumed that since she said she hadn't been in London for a long time, that meant the whole UK. But that was just a Londoners interpretation.

"No, that's not it.." Li Mei had not heard of such a band, but she was rarely in the cities, instead she stayed in the rural areas. It was easier to hunt and kill unnoticed. She thought about it and tried to figure out where she remembered Balthazar from and suddenly it became clear. "You are James' child!" A big smile lit up the Li Mei's face and she felt a great desire to hug him, but such affection was not acceptable out in public, so she controlled it. She had never met a so-called relative before, and Li Mei was excited but showed very little of it except for a slight giggle. "My maker and your maker were embraced by the same vampire, which makes us .. vampire cousins."

Balthazar shivered at the thought. He just hoped she wouldn't drag him along to some awkward family dinner. For some reason he had always been happy with standing outside of the "vampire community", and hoped no-one would try to drag him into it. He looked sceptically at her. His maker hadn't talked about where he came from, or anything about him really, so this could be true. He wrinkled his forehead and asked: "And you know this how?" From what he remembered, his maker wasn't the most chatty type.

"You do not seem particularly happy about it." Li Mei had also never liked the whole "vampire community", it was too arrogant and decadent for her taste, and didn't want to start something new but thought it was funny that she had encountered Balthazar here in London. "I saw you once .. a long, long time ago, playing the violin at a party. James then told William that he had found a beautiful, talented young man to turn. It doesn't take a genius to figure out the rest. " Li Mei smirked and thought back to when she got rid of William, her fomer lover.
