It was a Saturday night, this first day of auditions for Devils at Dawn had ended, and Balthazar had just fed, and wanted to relax after the long evening. In to half of the people that had come to auditions, Balthazar had stated to regret he hadn't just done as he did with Angels at Night. Just go out and find them by himself. Bit now it was done, and perhaps this was a good idea after all. This would probably go much faster, although it didn't seem like it right now.
Balthazar decided to go to a bar he hadn't been to, this night, for a change, and he had heard this one would be good. But as soon as he saw the entrance, he realized that the loud obnoxious music he had heard for some time now on the way to Thunder, was in fact Thunder. Well, Thunder, the bar. Balthazar frowned, but decided to go in anyway. He didn't want to judge the book by the cover. The very noisy cover.

Simone had been dragged by some classmates to this club to celebrate that they had all passed the exam of the week before. She suspected it was just an excuse to drink and hit on guys, but had herself only had one drink and hadn't even finished it - wouldn't afford to get truly drunk anyway, especially since she knew that if she did, she'd just end up spending even more money. To be honest she was pretty bored. The music wasn't what she usually listened to (not that any club ever played exactly what you wanted) and she had since long given up trying to have a conversation in this volume, so she was mostly sitting there watching the drunk crowd. It almost made her regret her decision to take it easy this evening.

Balthazar couldn't understand why all the nightclub had this loud music that made talking impossible. It always ended up being almost only a buzz, when people although tried to talk. And there was almost always really bad music. Balthazar went over to the bar and ordered a glass of white wine. This was a night of trying new things. New nightclub, and white wine instead of red. He sat also sat down at the bar, instead of sitting down at a table. And also, he had not fed on a drunk person, as he used to when going out, so he as completely sober. What a sorry fuck he was, he thought, and pretended to take a sip of the wine.

Since she had nothing better to do (she wasn't intoxicated enough to try dancing) of course she noticed the guy that came and apparently ordered some wine. Simone recognized him from somewhere, where? He was... Attractive, felt like she should remember from where.
"I'll be back." She told the friend that was the closest, but when she got a loud "What!?" she just waved her away and signaled that she was leaving to then approach the mat with the wine. She first made sure he was okay with her leaning in to talk, and then asked "Excuse me, but have we met? You seem familiar."

Balthazar noticed a red headed girl standing beside him, and when he realized she wanted to lean in, he nodded slightly as response. And when he heard her question he sighed. Sometimes he loved the attention, the recognition, but sometimes, like a night after an evening full of it, he just wanted to be alone. But he just shook his head and hoped that she recognized him from somewhere else than AaN.
"No, I don't think so"
He said this very politely, and smiled slightly. He hadn't have to be a jerk just because he had had a tough evening.

She looked sort of thoughtful with furrowed brows, pulling somewhat in a strand of hair. Simone could bet that she knew him and then she recognized him. Suddenly she was the kind of person that harassed famous people. "Oh shit, I'm sorry." With her light skin a certain amount of embarrassment made itself easily known. "You probably get this all the time, you must be so sick with it!" Simone just realized what she was doing to. "And I continue doing it. Great. Sorry again, I'll leave you alone." She just wanted to smack herself.

Balthazar couldn't help himself, but to smile, he almost felt sorry for her. Most fans never actuality excused themselves that honestly and he appreciated it, and he didn't mind the blushing, although that almost always occurred anyway.
"It's OK. Really. I never really get sick of it."
Balthazar told that white lie with a smirk.
"But I would appreciate it if you wouldn't tell anyone."

"Not sure who I would tell to be honest, even if I yelled at the top of my lungs I don't think anyone but you would hear." Actually she was already yelling. "Can we just pretend I came over here because I thought you were cute and asking if we met was a very poor pick up line?" She gave him an embarrassed smile, because even though she considered herself a grown up now, she did still have a big poster of him and his band members in her parents house and that was an embarrassing fact when standing in front of the guy.

"Ah, yes, you are very true."
He was about to say that she didn't have to yell, he would hear her fine anyway, but realized that that wasn't such a smart thing to say. As she continued to speak, Balthazar smiled and nodded concurringly, and leaned closer so she would hear him better.
"Well, no, THAT was a poor pick up line"
And that too was a really bad pick up line, he thought, without even being a real pick up line, but he just couldn't resist teasing. He just had to stop doing that.

She couldn't help but to laugh slightly. Hey, at least he was friendly. 17 year old Simone would be so jealous. "Oh come on, am I not embarrassed enough?"
The girl hesitated a moment, was she actually going to stand here and chat up her teenage idol? Why not, at least he seemed to hear what she was saying and he wasn't breathing heavily down her neck either. Probably because he didn't seem that drunk. "I'm Simone by the way."

Balthazar didn't have the strength to read Simone's mind right now, and even if he had, he wouldn't have done it. He had gotten so tired of reading peoples mind the last years. He didn't even bother to sense her feelings. It didn't take as much strength, but right now, he didn't feel like using any strength at all. Balthazar took another fake sip of the wine, and started to fiddle with his rosary around his neck.
"Well, hi Simone, I'm Balthazar" He nodded greetingly.

She gave him an honest smile, it was sort of cute that he still introduced himself. "So are you here alone?" That was a bit strange though.

"Yes, I'm here alone"
Balthazar looked at Simone and he could see she thought that was strange. He frowned just a bit and tried to figure out why that was so strange, without reading her mind, but then just gave up and asked.
"Why do you ask?"
Balthazar leaned his elbow on the bar, still fiddling with his rosary.

"I'm mostly making small talk. Is there any reason you're going out alone?" Maybe it wasn't such a bad thing that she talked to him then? Most people that go out alone do it to meet new people after all.

Well, what could he say? That his best friend had been turned to a vampire, and that they hardly talked since the break up of AaN? That... He was his only friend? That he really was a pathetic character? Balthazar just shook his head and smiled slightly at Simone.
"No, not really. I just felt like going alone. But how about you. Are you here alone?"
