Isola lay in the damp, green grass and looked at the stars, on the various constellations. Once she had known them all, but with time she forgot the majority and now she only remembered a few. The vast black sky seemed so unreal, so supernatural and she was filled with the feeling that there must be something more than this. If not a God, then at least the aliens .. Isola smiled at the thought of little green men in flying saucers. She rolled over on her stomach and laid her head on the soft grass with her hair over her face and thought of her audition when she suddenly felt observed.

Balthazar sat on a bench some ten metres away. A lamp just by the bench lit him up, and that might have made him seem unnatural to a human, but he had fed, so his skin was just like a humans, just the right color. He had his hair up in a low ponytail, and had his usual outfit on, which included a black shirt, black pants and a pair of boots. On his lap he had a notepad and beside him on the bench he had an empty music sheet. He had felt the apartment to suffocating, so he had decided to go out and try to write some music. He noticed something moving on the grass in front of him, and when he looked up from the paper, he saw the girl that he had met on the tube, and that had been auditioning.

Isola turned around to see if there was someone. All of a sudden the streetlight lit up the park and she saw a man on a bench not far from where she lay. She tried to see who it was but it was to dark for her human eyes to see the face. Though his posture looked kind of familiar and then she realized who it was. It was him, the vampire! Isola went up and tried to wipe the grass from her only long sleeved white top and the tattered black silk skirt she had worn at the audition, but the grass wouldn't come off. Well, nevermind she thought and sighed in resignation, one more stain on her clothes wouldn't make a difference. She went up to the man on the bench and a smile lit up her face. "What are you doing here all alone?"

Balthazar noticed the girl standing up and coming over to him. He returned her smile and looked down at her grass stained clothes, and then up at her again, taking up all his papers in his lap, so that Isola could sit down if she wanted to. "I might ask you the same question. Isn't it a little bit too dangerous for you to be out here alone? Or you'r not alone?" He knew that she was alone, but didn't want her to know that.

"I was just watching the stars and I'm not alone anymore. You´re here." Isola said and her smile grew wider. She sat down next to him on the bench and looked at the papers in his lap, it seemed to be some kind of music sheet. She understood as much as he sat here to be alone and find some inspiration.
"Mind if I sit here or do you want to be alone? ..Balthazar." She had smirk on her lips and were kind of proud of herself, she knew Stephen wasn't his real name, it didn't seem to fit him. Isola had found out his name after her audition while talking to some of the other candidates.

Balthazar shook his head a little at her question. "No I don't mind. So you found out my real name. Yeah, well, I didn't guess that was going to last long anyway. Not since you actually was auditioning for me, Balthazar." Someone that hadn't heard of Angels at Night. Well, this was refreshing. The only ones he had met that hadn't heard of them was peoples grandparents. "I can see that watching the stars is really something worth to do, but aren't you cold?"

Although Isola did think it was a bit chilly it didn't become her, she was actually used to it. But she had a knitted sweater in her bag just in case. "I'm used to being cold" she said and shrugged. "How have you been since the audition?" She asked and smiled faintly at him.

"I've been okay. A lot to do with the auditions, but otherwise, I have had nothing much to do." Since the break up of Angels at Night Balthazar had been restless. One of the main reasons for starting this new band. "And how about you, Isola?"

"Oh, I´m fine. Being homeless agrees with me." Isola snickered and looked down at the ground. She wondered about the auditions, if he wanted her in the band or if he had found someone better? Her eyes went up from the ground and up to Balthazars face, he sure was beautiful.. But so was probably all vampires. "Rydych chi wedi llygaid hardd" Isola blushed quickly looked down into her lap when she remembered what she had said and hoped that he didn't know Welsh.
(Rydych chi wedi llygaid hardd means: You have beautiful eyes)

Balthazar crossed his legs and leaned his elbow against his knee with his chin in his hand, laying the papers on the other side of him. He nodded at her answer but when she started to speak Welsh, he wrinkled his forehead. "Sorry, I don't speak Welsh."

"Sorry, what I meant was, have you narrowed the candidates down? Am I among those chosen few?" Isola exhaled and felt relieved, he hadn't understood what she said in Welsh. She leaned forward, towards Balthazar and said with a smirk and thought that it would have been amusing. "Have you eaten some of the really, really bad candidates?"

He ignored the first questions, when she got to the last. "Eaten?" At first, he really didn't understood what she meant, but when he did, he sighed and looked meaningly at Isola. "You still going on about that vampire thing?" He thought this was getting really frustrating.

Isola looked back at him with the same glance he gave her. "I may be a bit.. not sane, but I´m not stupid. I know you´re not human. Besides who was talking about drinking blood? There are many ways to eat someone.." She giggled at the last remark and thought about the many ways of how the word eat could be used. "You´re gonna insist of denying that you ARE a vampire? Even though it´s true. You know it´s better to be a bloodsucker than just a sucker."

Balthazar frowned, but the laughed. "Never! I would never... Well..." He shrugged his shoulders and smirked. "Not because they are bad anyway..." He did not answer right away to Isola's last comment, but squinted his eyes as he finally asked, still with a smirk: "So you think I'm a sucker?"

Isola laughed and gave Balthazar a knowing glance. "If you keep on insisting that you´re not a vampire, then you´re a sucker." She watched his face, the way he smiled, his eyes and the way he looked at her. He didn't look old but something in his eyes told her that he´d been around for quite a while and when she looked at his fingernails and his skin. They were like glass, no human had such fingernails and his skin was perfect, not a scar or a blemish. It was these things that made up her mind, he really wasn't human.. She looked Balthazar in the eyes again.
