Isola sat on the train and was heading home after a long day at her dayjob. All sorts of thoughts went through her head as the scenery swooshed by and hordes of people got in and got out of the train. It felt like she was stuck in slow motion and everything else was in ultrarapid, everyone so set in their ways and unaware of things that happened around them. She pulled her hood over her head and put in some earphones and pressed play on her mp3 and the sweet soothing sound of Radiohead came pouring out.

Ice still wasn't used to taking the tube. It was way too crowded for him, he much prefered taking the extra three buses to work. But this was something he had to work on and besides he was harder to recognize in a crowd. Not that he was recognized that much now adays. It's been ages since anyone had ever thought about Angels at Night. And you might even say that you're at your most alone in a crowd. And besides, one of the buslines had been shut down, so he didn't have a choice. The train came screeching in to the station and he got on, looking around for an empty seat. They were filling up quickly as he stood hesitating, until only the one closest to him were unoccupied. He sat down and glanced at the girl next to him. Funny, they had nearly the same hair colour, only hers was slightly whiter. He thought about striking up a conversation - both Nick and that girl had met a couple of days ago ('Was it Sarah her name was?' he quickly wondered) told him to try and talk to strangers - but he almost panicked at the thought. It was like he couldn't get any air. Besides, what would he say? 'Hey, we got hair colours in the same colourscheme, isn't that a blast?' sounded really retarded. He was retarded. Ice was so busy with his own thoughts he unwittingly had been staring at the girl all this time without noticing.

Isola noticed the stare of the person sitting next to her and glanced cautiously at the person. It was a young man, perhaps in her own age, but she couldn't tell for sure, some people looked much younger or older than they really were. Anyway he was much younger than she had expected, Isola at first thought that it was some creepy older guy out looking for some innocent little lamb to toy with. She continued to glance at him as she pulled out one of her earphones and then turned to him and said as polite as she possibly knew how. "Do you want something?"

Ice made a little start as the girl spoke to him. He blushed furiosly as he realised that he had been staring and quickly looked away. Then he came to the conclusion that it only made it worse, since she obviously had noticed his staring. He glanced back and tried to quiet the rabid beating of his heart, making it harder for him to speak. "I-I'm s-s-sorry, I-I d-did'nt m-mean to-to stare." he managed to say to her knees. Then he berated himself for being such a wimp. This was the golden opportunity to speak to her, since it now would be totally awkward the rest of the ride if he just sat silently. He steeled himself, drew a strengthening breath and looked her squarely in the face. "I-I was just ga-gathering the c-courage to sp-speak to y-you." Then he cursed himself. That didn't sound creepy and stalkery at all. "I-I-I m-mean, n-n-not like th-th-that!" he quickly stammered, almost choking on the words in his hurry to explain. "I-I m-mean, I-I'm... I'm i-in th-therapy f-for s-s-social ph-phobia, a-and, uhm, I-I'm s-supposed t-to p-pract-tice s-speaking to s-strangers." Yeah, that sounded better. Not. In his hurry to explain he told her way too much, things he hadn't told anyone except Nick. He wished he could just burst into flames - his face was hot enough for that- and die.

Isola blushed a little as well and thought it was so sweet that he had to muster some courage before daring to talk to her. She let out a surprised:"Oh..!", as he continued to speak she let out another, but more cautious and questioning:"Oh?" Finally as he told her the real reason to why he had started to talk to her, Isola let out a disappointed "Oh..", and her cheeks turned red and she turned her attention down towards her boots. Here she thought that someone was thinking she was cute or interesting and he was just like her, another nut job. Well, she could try to be nice to him, after all this seemed to be very hard for him. Isola was still blushing as she glanced at him again and feeling very foolishly she reached out her hand and introduced herself. "I'm Isola."

Ice berated himself silently when he heard her disappointed 'Oh'. This is wh he isn't smooth. He always manage to say the wrong thing in his haste to explain himself, putting his foot further into his mouth each and every time. It wasn't like he wasoblivious to social curtesies, it was just that he didn't realise what he should and shouldn't say until later. He gratefully took her hand and gave her a relieved, if somewhat shy, smile. "H-hi. I-I'm Ice." He gave her hand a quick squeeze and then let it go, afraid that he held on to it for too long. For how long were you supposed to shake hands? Thirty seconds, maybe? He couldn't remember how long he had held her hand. "S-so, uhm... I'm n-not sure wh-what t-to do n-now." He said with great embarrasment. What DID you do after babbling crazily at a girl you were staring at. She gracefully introduced herself and then... Did you ask what the did for a living, or is that too stalkishly?

Isola thought about it for second, scratched the back of her head and shrugged. "Ehm.. I'm also a bit socially awkward but I guess we could talk about the weather and stuff.. Small talk, you know?" God, could she sound more like an idiot, who would like to talk about the weather on a bus? Isola bit her lip and smiled, silently cursing herself for being so dumb.

For a socially awkward person she was remarcably good at not showing it. "R-really? Y-you s-seem so g-good at... not b-being awkward." Ice said shyly. "S-so, th-the weather... It's v-very.. Lo-londonish, d-don't you th-think?" Calling it Londonish was his way of tactfully not mention that their beautiful capital was in a constant foggy rainy state, or so it seemed. Being from the countryside, he was used to rain and fog making the nature wild and mysterious and fresh, but in the city the weather was only depressing. Still, anything was better than home. And right about there he ran out of things to say.

"Oh, you just wait, it'll come any minute now. But thank you, you are doing quite well yourself. Isola stopped biting her lip and gave Ice a friendly smile as he tried to talk about the weather, perhaps she should have come up with another topic. After all the weather in London was famous for it's fog. It was kind of nice to talk to another person who was also a bit clumsy in social situations, it made her feel less awkward about herself and perhaps it was the same for Ice. "God forbid that it should be a clear day for once." I mean it's not like we're vampires, we humans are like plants and need a little sunshine once in a while. But since the weather is almost always the same.. Perhaps we should talk about something else?" Isola said encouragingly and hoped it would lead to a better subject.
